WILLIAM “BILL” HOPPER

President & Chief Executive Officer

A graduate of The University of Georgia, Bill has worked in Athens in the banking industry since 1983 with a focus on Management as well as Commercial & Consumer Lending. Bill came to NBG in 2002 and was named president & CEO in 2007. Bill became NBG Board Chairman in 2012. Bill is an active member of the First Baptist Church in Athens where he teaches Sunday school and serves on the Diaconate. He has served the community in a volunteer capacity on several boards and committees, including the March of Dimes, Kelley Diversified, Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Athens Country Club.

TOM LANIER

Executive Vice President & Senior Lending Officer

One of the founding officers of NBG, Tom has an extensive career in banking that extends more than three decades and covers areas of expertise in Commercial, Consumer and Real Estate Lending. A native of Savannah, Tom has lived in Athens since 1966 and has served as a volunteer for Hospice of Athens, Clarke Central High School Athletic Boosters, Athens Little League, United Way of Northeast Georgia and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

CHAD HARGROVE

Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer

A graduate of Georgia State University and Keller Graduate School of Management, Chad has worked in the financial sector since 2001 – with all of that time spent in the northeast Georgia market. His experience covers operations, finance, investor relations, human resources, marketing and compliance. He has also served in a leadership capacity as an associate member of the Georgia Society of CPA’s and several state banking association committees.

TED McWHORTER

Senior Vice President/Commercial Lending

Since 1975, when he graduated from University of Georgia, Ted has been involved in community banking in Athens. He joined NBG in 2002 and has helped lead the Commercial and Real Estate Lending area of the bank to continued growth. A native of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Ted has lived in Athens since 1972 and over the years has served the community in various volunteer capacities.

JOY SULLIVAN

Vice President/Administration

Joy is another of our founders and has worked in many areas of banking including: customer service, administration, and human resources. She brings us more than 25 years of experience in community banking.  Joy is a member of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church and is married to vice president & mortgage officer, Billy Sullivan.

WENDY MARTIN

Vice President/Operations

Wendy is one of the founders of our bank, and possesses more than three decades of leadership in the banking industry, particularly in the areas of customer service and operations.  Wendy is a member of The First Christian Church and is an active supporter of the Relay for Life in Oglethorpe County.

BILLY SULLIVAN

Vice President/Mortgage Loan Officer

Having been in the mortgage lending business since 1988, Billy brings a wealth of experience helping our customers get into the home of their dreams. With Billy’s past experience in starting mortgage departments, he opened up NBG’s Mortgage Department on May 8, 2000. Billy is married to Joy Sullivan, vice president of administration, and is a member of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church. Outside of the bank, Billy spends most of his time leading a boys travel basketball team, and playing tennis and basketball.

BRYAN HIGHT

Vice President/Chief Credit Officer

A graduate of The University of Georgia, Bryan has more than 29 years of experience in the financial industry and has been a part of NBG since 2001, working specifically in the areas of commercial lending and credit review. Bryan has been active in various civic and charitable organizations and activities in the Athens area.       

TAL HUTTO

Vice President/Mortgage Loan Officer

A graduate of The University of Georgia, Tal joined us in 2004 and brings over three decades of banking experience in the areas of branch management, consumer and commercial lending, and mortgage lending. Tal was born in Athens and has lived here his whole life, resulting in his extensive knowledge of the Athens market.  He has served in many roles in community organizations including: the YMCA, Athens Jaycees, Cub Scouts, Relay for Life, and the American Red Cross.

DAN MOORE

Vice President/Commercial Lending

A graduate of The University of Georgia, Dan has 10 years in the banking industry and over 20 years of small business and financial management experience.  Dan joined NBG in 2007 with a focus on Commercial and Retail Banking.  A former board member of the ALS Association of GA, Dan currently serves as an advisor to a local student organization where he has mentored young adults for two decades.

JANET LEACH

Vice President/Controller

Janet joined NBG in 2008 and brings more than 17 years of banking experience working in Accounting/Operations. She is a graduate of Mercer University, and is a member at New Hope Baptist Church in Lawrenceville as well as an active parent at George Walton Academy and Georgia Tech.  Janet is also an active supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.         

COLIN STOKES

Vice President/Commercial Lending

A graduate of The University of Georgia, Colin joined us in 2011 and brings more than a decade of experience in commercial and investment banking. He is also involved with the Athens Rotary Club, Athens Country Club, Boy Scouts and Athens First United Methodist Church.

MARK PAPANICOLAOU

Group Vice President

Mark is a graduate of The University of Georgia (’85), with a degree in Finance and a graduate of the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking (’03). He joined our Gainesville office in 2008 bringing more than two decades of experience in commercial lending and management. Mark is a member of the Gainesville Kiwanis Club, Leadership Georgia (’03 Class), and a member of the Vestry and Treasurer of St. Stephen's Anglican Catholic Church.

DONITA MILSTEAD

Assistant Vice President/Mortgage Operations

A 1985 graduate of Campbellsville, College, Donita has been with us since 2001 and has almost three decades in banking. She is also active in the local and regional Saddle Clubs in the north Georgia area.

PEGGY ANTWINE

Assistant Vice President/Loan Administration

Possessing a career that spans more than four decades in banking, Peggy has worked in customer service, accounting, operations and loan operations. She is a member of Cornerstone Church of God as well as a member of their choir, and she volunteers for Redemption Lift Feed the Homeless Ministry.

ALLISON STAHLMAN

Assistant Vice President/ Systems Administration

Allison has been with NBG since 2003, serving in a leadership position in the areas of Systems Administration and Operations.  She is a member of Antioch Christian Church in Watkinsville and is active with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

SONIA OSNER

Compliance Officer

Sonia joined us in 2010 bringing more than 25 years of experience with loan operations, credit administration and compliance. Sonia is a member of the Loganville First Baptist Church.

LISA HOLCOMBE

Bank Officer/Credit Analyst

A graduate of Kennesaw State University, Lisa joined NBG in 2010. She has worked in banking since 2004 as a teller, customer service representative, loan operations support staff, and an analyst in the credit department. She is also a member at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Dacula, where she is involved in the Children’s and Women’s ministries.
